Ben Cort, Founder and CEO of Union EAP

Two decades in treatment. One mission for members.

Ben has been a leader and innovator in mental health and substance use treatment since 2007, and he built Union EAP to give union members and their families support that truly works for them.

Over his career, Ben has held executive roles at nonprofit, for-profit, hospital and community-based organizations. He led marketing, business development and admissions at the Center for Dependency, Addiction and Rehabilitation (CeDAR) at the University of Colorado Hospital, and he was an original board member and the first full-time employee of Phoenix Multisport, which builds sober communities through sport and fitness.

Ben helped build a treatment program designed for specialized labor and went on to work with the NFL Players Association. Since then, he has partnered with trade unions to improve members’ access to high-quality mental health and substance use care. That work led him to co-found Union EAP.

Ben also wrote an education and certification program on ethical treatment practices that has been widely adopted across the field, and he is regarded as an authority on the subject. He is the author of Weed, Inc. and a TED speaker whose talk has been viewed millions of times.
